Meet Miho Kitajima, a Tokyo native who takes the art of hair styling very serious.
She started her studies at home in Japan and in 1999 began braiding hair. After five years of working in a professional salon in Tokyo. Miho made a very important trip to New York to learn more about Black hair. Once in NY, she studied under an African hair braiding salon and soon started her own small business on 125th street in Harlem.
Miho now specializes in extensions for all types of hair. She also provides intensive treatment for the hair and scalp, and is dedicated to helping her customers solve any problems they may have with damaged or thinning hair.
Her talent has been featured in many hair shows, magazines and art events around the world. She has participated to have classes in the International Beauty show in New York, as well as the Hair Brazil Professional show in Sao Paulo.
Her reputation as a hairstylist has led to many singers, dancers and models requesting her skills for their photoshoots. However, always looking for the next step in hair.
Miho has on occasion worked directly with the world biggest hair manufacturers like Kaneka America, for the promotion and development of their new hair products. In working with these companies she provides hair product ideas and acts as a consultant for products they may already have in pre-production.
After 7 years of experience in Harlem, she relocated her salon to Midtown Flatiron district area. She now expanded her business with one of her passions Japanese nail art then opened M&M studio nyc in 2014.
